Stayed in April 2016
Hi Ray thanks for your E-mail we always like to leave where ever we are staying as we found it, you will always be invited back again then.
We have been visiting the Dales every year for the last twenty or so years and stayed in many cottages during this time and I have to say your cottages are the best bare none. We did not want for anything at all and the garden was to die for. I will miss it and I was very sad to leave.
We have always favoured Reeth and your cottage was the icing on the cake we will return.
All the best

Left on Dec 28, 2015 for a stay in Dec 2015
Booked with the idea to get away from Christmas, it was everything we hoped for and more. The owners and family were on hand for everything needed and had a lovely fire awaiting our arrival, very informative and friendly and even checked my car tyres and put some air in - nothing was too much trouble. Location fantastic, wonderful views and walks on the doorstep. Cottage itself warm, cosy, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The weather was wet so we didn't get out much but the village is a few minutes walk away. A good time was had by all we will definitely be going back one day. Gaynor L
My wife and I book a cottage at Wraycroft every year and it is the best cottage we have ever had the pleasure to have stayed in. Everything is provided from teaspoons to spare blankets- it is extremely well equipped, The rooms are airy with plenty of space and feels like home from home and after a long walk it is a pleasure to come back to.
The gardens are superb with a few seats strategically placed giving great views of the hills opposite as well as the lovely and well maintained gardens themselves. The pond, the flowers and the spacious lawns make for a very relaxing experience. A walk further down will bring you to the River Swale and is a nice place to park yourself and cogitate for a while.
We rarely, if at all, use our car as there are numerous walks from the doorstep all with stunning views of the surrounding dales. Reeth itself provides everything you need from papers, groceries, pubs and places to eat and have a drink. It's a smashing place, which adds to the enjoyment of our our stay here.
If all that wasn't enough, the owners of the property are on site and are the most friendly and approachable people you could wish to meet.
We cannot recommend staying here highly enough as we know we are guaranteed a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Can't wait for next month! MIKE Q
Had a great weekend at Wraycroft, blazing coal fire on arrival. Nice clean cottage equipped with everything you need, would certainly recommend and will definitely return. Ian

We have just spent a wonderful week at Wraycroft Cottages.
The warm welcome from the Hodgson family set the tone for the rest of the week.
The cottage was as described in the literature and was presented sparklingly clean.
Views from the cottage showed Swaledale in all its magnificent glory. We were impressed by
all aspects of the cottage and its location, and would like to thank all who helped to make it possible, hopefully we will return.

Thank you for another wonderful week at the cottages, everything is perfect. We have been coming here for over 25 years and we are never disappointed. All the cottages are so comfortable and clean - home from home. The gardens and views magnificent! Excellent places to eat in the village.

Our third visit to Wraycroft and once again a really warm welcome from Ray and Dave. There's a homeliness about the cottages that we particularly enjoy, and in the comfortable lounge the added benefit of an open fire for chilly evenings. For walking you are ideally placed for setting off along Swaledale or exploring Arkengarthdale, but if you just want to spend time relaxing on the patio there's a stunning garden to look out on, and beyond that a view across the Dale with its patchwork of fields and pattern of drystone walls. Nowhere better! And all of this in Reeth, a handsome village offering an ideal base with its cafes, pubs and shops as well as a bus service along the Dale for further walking opportunities if you don’t want to use your car. We've re-booked for next year.

We do have fishing rights to the centre of the River but do not advertise fishing as it depends on the depth of the River which cannot be guaranteed .
Thanks for the enquiry

Had a lovely week in this clean, warm, well equipped cottage. Views are amazing, plenty of room to park, everything we needed for a holiday in beautiful Reeth.

We have been coming for many years - mainly in Autumn and Winter - and never been disappointed. Always a warm welcome! An ideal location to explore (walk/cycle) this scenic
and lonely Dale; the local volunteer bus services mean you can leave the car behind! A wealth of good eateries within walking distance, and local services within the village. Highly recommended.

Whilst we were staying at Grinton we fell in love with the area so we did research on other accommodation in the area. We went to Wraycroft Cottage and was greeted by the very friendly and helpful Ray. We were then hooked into tHe magic of the cottages and gardens, and the beautiful river at the bottom of the garden. We booked for 2 weeks at the beginning of August and stayed at Cedarcroft which had beautiful views from the lounge and patio. We spent many a day and evening around that area. Whilst we were there we had a few days of very hot weather so we got our collapsing chairs and put them in the river , it was like paradise on such a hot day. We will definitely stay again in the hopefully near future as it is a place that you are made very welcome and where you can completely relax. Stayed Aug 2022.

We had a relaxing stay in October 2021. The cottage itself was cosy, warm and sparkling clean, and even with some Covid restrictions in place was equipped with everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable self catering holiday.
On arrival we were greeted by Dave who showed us to the cottage, where to park and made sure we knew how everything worked. Dave pointed out the ‘snicket’ shortcut to the centre of the village - very useful for walking to The Black Bull for lunch or an evening meal !
The view from the lounge over the garden to the other side of the Dale, was beautiful and ever changing. It was lovely to be able to explore the garden and wander down to the river.
We enjoyed walking from the cottage and the enclosed porch area, complete with seating, coat hooks and a radiator, was a bonus for being able to remove muddy walking boots and wet weather gear in comfort!
The reliable Wifi was also a bonus.
Cedarcroft suited our needs very well, but it was the interaction with Ray and Dave that made our stay memorable. Both are very knowledgeable and friendly people - our understanding of the pros and cons of air and ground source heat pumps increased enormously!
We enjoyed our stay so much that, even before our week was up, we had decided that we would like to return in 2022.
If, like us, you like beautiful scenery, walks from the door and a feeling of comfortableness we throughly recommend Wraycroft cottages.

Our recent visit to the Cottages was a big success! The cottage we stayed in was well maintained , well equipped and hyper clean. Views over the dale and easy access to the village made this an ideal location . The area is ideal for walking and the dales Cycle Centre is just down the road at Grinton .
Plenty of tea and cakes on offer in the village as well as three pubs to choose from. We shall no doubt be returning to stay here again to sample the delights of all the Dales have to offer and the hospitality provided by the good people of Reeth.

If you are reading the reviews you must be considering staying here. Do not hesitate, as these are truly genuine thoughts from returning guests.
We have enjoyed another relaxing stay in these fantastic surroundings. Again we say Wraycroft makes us feel so relaxed & comfortable from the moment of walking through the door. Thank you for accommodating us & we will definitely return.

Sadly, we are nearing the end of our 2 week break in Beechcroft. We always leave with a heavy heart but know we will be returning yet again. We have stayed in all three cottages over the years and all are equally cosy, clean and well equipped with fantastic views of the huge garden and hills beyond.
We have been so lucky with the lovely warm and sunny weather this week, having been snowbound at this time last year!
Reeth is a fantastic base for a holiday. There are many walks directly from the cottages to suit all abilities. The village has good pubs and cafes along with a couple of bakers and shops.
You will not regret a visit to these fantastic cottages.

Recently home after a last-minute booking in Cedarcroft, I thought it was time we "filed a report" - having stayed in all 3 cottages at various times of year since 2012! We first found the cottages when we needed somewhere to stay for a week before heading off to the Lake District. I told Tom, "I don't mind where it is as long as there's a garden." What a find Wraycroft turned out to be and what a garden! We're so glad he stumbled upon the brilliant website back then. We love that we can set out on walks from the door or easily get to other parts of the Dales for walks all over the place. Having a real fire in the evening is lovely - although not needed towards the end of this stay as the temperature rose. Walking in t-shirts in February! This time the Memorial Hall had concerts on two consecutive nights, which was a great discovery once the cottage was booked. How great to potter through the 'snicket' into the village to do things we have to use a car for at home: visits to shops, post office, bakers' (there are now 2), pubs, craft places, chapel - or a slightly longer walk to the church at Grinton - and, this time, the Memorial Hall. We fully endorse what others have said about the cottages: spot on! It's always so sad to leave. Many thanks to Ray, Walter and Dave.

I think it is about time that took a few minutes to extol the pleasure that i have gained by staying at the cottages over more years than I care to remember and that in itself speaks volumes about the cottages, the location but more about the people, Ray Walter and Dave, to me it has become my second home. Over the years I have increased the number of annual visits from 1, to 2, to 3 and next year to 4. You could say I like it. If you are reading this and considering coming I would say do not hesitate, make that booking immediately and enjoy the comfort of the well equipped cottages, the magnificent scenery, the friendliness of the hosts and the peace and quiet that is Wraycroft.

We’ve just returned from our week’s stay in Beechcroft with friends and it has been thoroughly enjoyable. There was everything we needed for our comfort, it was extremely peaceful and the views are to die for. A perfect return to Swaledale, thank you.

Your cottages are an absolute treasure. To be able to sit & relax in such clean & comfortable surroundings while admiring the unspoilt view is wonderful. You have equipped the cottages with everything ....a true home from home. From setting foot in the door we both felt so peaceful. We will definitely return! Thank you so much for providing us with such an enjoyable weekend.

Whilst in the process of planning a trip for October this year we realised that we omitted to post a review of Cedarcroft Cottage in Reeth that we booked through Owners Direct! Better late than never, we want to confirm more recent reviews on how nice this place is. It is one of three very well equipped, cosy and comfortable, purpose built holiday terraced cottages, with beautiful views of the extensive garden leading down to the river and the surrounding Yorkshire dales. The open coal fire, with fuel provided, was lovely to snuggle around on cool October evenings. Our host, Ray, was very welcoming and helpful, filling us in on local information. The cottage is very close to village centre and its amenities. Be sure to try the excellent mobile fish and chip van that stops there and look out for musical events in the village hall which are well organised and entertaining. We had chosen the area for walking and it is an excellent base for doing just that. We wouldn’t hesitate in returning and stopping at the cottage again.

Just back home after a great week in Ashcroft Cottage. What a fabulous cottage for a holiday, clean with every facility you could ask for. Patio doors leading to a magnificent garden with the river at the bottom and you don't have to cut the grass. The views are fantastic across the heather covered hills and stone walls. We were made most welcome by our host Ray who could not do more to make our stay so memorable. This is our fifth year staying in the Reeth area but this is by far the best cottage we have stayed in. Thanks again Ray, can't wait until next year.

Missing Reeth and in particular staying at Reeth cottages. Cedar Croft as all your three cottages are was a true home from home for the last two weeks. Such a clean, warm cottage with everything we needed and fabulous views. The only thing missing this time was the snow! We'll be back as soon as we can!
